A Bucket List Experience in Toledo

The Ribbon at the Glass City Riverwalk is easily one of the most unique places to skate in Ohio, not because it’s bigger or faster, but because it completely changes how skating feels.

Instead of a standard rink, this is a flowing loop built with smooth curves, rolling turns, and just enough elevation to keep you moving without effort. You’re not stopping every few seconds or skating in circles, you’re gliding.

In the warmer months, it turns into a roller skating loop that feels closer to a ride than a path. The curves naturally carry your momentum, and once you get going, it’s hard to stop. It’s one of those places where even casual skaters end up doing lap after lap without realizing it.

In the winter, it becomes an ice skating ribbon, and this is where it really stands out. Skating under the lights, following the bends of the path, with the river right there, it feels more like a winter experience than just skating. It’s less structured than a rink and a lot more immersive.
